K10 events – July 2009
20 to 24th July Renewable energy and carbon reduction. Knoydart Renewables, our local energy company, will be organising a week of events and activities for all those wanting to make a difference
All week – exhibition in the Hall, starting Monday morning. The history of the Hydro, breakdowns and all… Any stories or photos – you can add them in…! There will be a “Renewables†Map too – if you have any pictures of your own “renewable†energy you can put them on.
Monday 20th July Renewable Energy for Heat Day
Woodland Energy Walk Leave at 11.30 back at 1.30 Meet Knoydart Foundation Ranger Base. Nature walk through Inverie Woods with woodfuel “exhibits†on the way…! Finish at the village hall for the exhibition.
Tuesday 21st July Carbon Footprint Day Village Hall
Carbon footprinting arts for children 1pm – 3pm
Wednesday 22nd July Renewable Energy for Electricity Day
Tea at the Turbine House Meet Village Hall 11.30
A wee talk from Jim Brown + exhibition in hall + the urn will be on….
If you’re going up to the Turbine House too, you can fill your flask for free with tea! Bring snacks or a packed lunch or order one from Knoydart Pottery Tea Room 460191 in advance please where possible.
Followed by Guided Walk to Turbine House with Jim and team (4miles round trip). Some limited landrover spaces may be available rather than walking but must be pre-booked.
Findlay Taylor from Energy Savings Scotland Advice Centre and Kay Boulton from “Renew†will be coming over for the day too for the trip and then afterwards will be in the village with info and you can check your individual or household carbon footprint on Kay’s solar powered laptop!

Thursday 23rd July Renewables and Powerdown Ideas for the Future
10-12am Steve Brook will be demonstrating our (on loan) model hydrogen cars… and 1pm – 3pm Map to the Future! Arts activity for children
4pm – 6pm Renewables Directors invite the community to tea and scones at the hall. Bring a beer if you prefer! Old Forge will be serving a special K10/ Powerdown local real ale. Please note we do not endorse any particular products…! If you can’t make it through the week, the exhibition will be up till Friday lunchtime showing everything that’s happened….
Children’s activities for 12s and unders. Parents must accompany. Pre booking only. Guided walks timed to fit with Bruce Watt ferry “The Western Isles†dep Mallaig 10.15 dep Inverie 3pm
