Knoydart is one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Scotland. There are no public roads into the peninsula, so everyone arrives either by ferry or on foot.
By Ferry
The easiest and most popular way to reach Knoydart is by the Western Isles ferry from Mallaig to Inverie. The crossing takes around 30–45 minutes and gives you spectacular views of the west coast.
Crossing times and seasonal sailings can vary, and services may be affected by weather conditions.

Walk Into Knoydart
For those looking for more of an adventure, Knoydart can also be reached on foot via several spectacular routes through the surrounding hills.
These routes are best suited to experienced walkers with the correct equipment and weather preparation.

From Glenfinnan
- Longer route with beautiful scenery
- Approx. 24 km / 15 miles
- Usually 7–9 hours

- Suitable for experienced walkers only
- More remote and challenging
