The Trading arm of the Knoydart Foundation
As a charity, The Knoydart Foundation cannot trade or make money outwith its core operations, so in 1999, Knoydart Trading Ltd was set up as it’s trading subsidiary.
Our aims:
- To support the charitable purposes of The Knoydart Foundation by providing local services and jobs. We offer affordable visitor accommodation to aid access for all to this beautiful area, run a local shop and Post Office offering a wide range of goods for locals and visitors in our remote situation, and transform the local venison resource into healthy, affordable local food.
- To provide an income stream for the Foundation by donating it’s profits to the charity so supporting it’s operation and achieving its objectives of caring for it’s land and wildlife, heritage and buildings, residents and visitors.
- To achieve all this in a sustainable and ethical way.
We started small with some Knoydart T-shirts sold from the Foundation office and a very basic bunkhouse run by volunteers. Please browse the tabs for Accommodation, Knoydart Wild Venison and the SHOP to see how far we have come in the last 25 years.
The company is run by a board of local volunteer directors and currently has the equivalent of five full time employees. We are a Real Living Wage employer.
